  • The catenary curve is an intriguing mathematical and physical phenomenon that plays a
    crucial role in various elds, such as engineering, architecture, and is also found in nature.
    Although the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) states that mathematics in high
    school should be integrated and applied to reality in various contexts, the catenary is not
    even mentioned as an example in textbooks. In this context, this work sought to address
    the question of how to explain this curve and its properties in high school. Therefore,
    the general objective is to investigate the mathematical properties and applications of the
    catenary curve and to propose a Didactic Sequence (SD) for high school. We present the
    relationship between the BNCC and the catenary, as well as its history, applications, and
    equation. Consequently, we developed the Educational Product (the SD) which includes
    a sequence of lessons for studying the catenary, with activities involving jump rope, soap
    bubbles, and constructing the catenary arch. It was concluded that studying the catenary
    in high school and using the SD can enhance the teaching and learning of mathematics.

  • This dissertation proposed possibilities for using the Geogebra software, with the appli-
    cation of normal distribution in calculating probability. The proposal consists of using

    Geogebra's probability calculator, resource, in dierent applications and comparing it with
    the results obtained in the calculation of the standardized normal curve. In addition, we
    carry out simulations in order to demonstrate important results such as the central limit
    theorem.

  • This dissertation aims to present new perspectives on Pascal's Triangle in the school context. It is a complex and rarely explored topic at this educational level, which brings with it possibilities for application and intriguing curiosities to spark students' interest, thereby enhancing more eective teaching and learning processes. Through dierent approaches, it is possible to motivate and enrich the traditional content of Mathematics in basic education and work with interdisciplinary situations. The study provides a brief history of the origin of the Triangle and its use over time by various mathematicians up to Pascal. Additionally, mathematical results obtained from the analysis of the elements of this Triangle are presented and discussed. Finally, a series of approaches that relate the Triangle to dierent elds of Mathematics are proposed, aiming to assist basic education teachers in preparing activities for their classes. Issues involving more advanced mathematical concepts are also addressed, allowing each educator to choose and adapt those that are most suitable for their reality. In this way, the goal is to provide basic school teachers with an additional resource for creating innovative pedagogical proposals that contribute to the advancement of basic education in an engaging and meaningful way.
