SUMMARY:

This study aims to analyze the relations between the Zundão dos Camilos community, located in the municipality of União, in the state of Piauí, is one of many traditional communities facing growing challenges with the expansion of agribusiness. Among the central activities for this population is the breaking of the babassu coconut, a practice which, as well as being economic, is a cultural expression, especially relevant to gender issues. However, in recent years, the presence of large companies, such as Comvap, has intensified the decline of this activity, having a direct impact on family and community dynamics. The choice of oral history methodology is justified by the need to learn about the experiences and narratives of those who live in the countryside. This approach will allow us to collect accounts that reveal the subtleties of daily life, feelings of belonging and forms of cultural resistance.
