SUMMARY:

This dissertation entitled “LITERATING ANCESTRAL VOICES: from the pleasure of reading to the construction of historical knowledge about indigenous peoples”, aims to investigate the potential of indigenous literature as a teaching practice that builds non-stereotypical historical knowledge. The specific objectives are: to discuss and understand the teaching practice of teachers regarding the theme of indigenous peoples in the initial grades of Elementary School in a school in the city of Parnaíba-PI; identify writers and books of indigenous literature that deal with traditions, culture and issues of indigenous peoples in Brazil, in order to implement storytelling workshops to problematize, disseminate and promote historical knowledge and propose the activity Rotation through Learning Stations, to from an indigenous literary work for students in the early years of Elementary School, as an educational product. Our study will be carried out in light of theorists such as: BITTENCOURT (2013) from the perspective of teaching history; CUNHA (1992 and 1998), MONTEIRO, J. (1999) and ALMEIDA (2010) with teaching indigenous history; SOARES(2005),KLEIMAN(1995) and TFOUNI(1995) Literacy; ROJO, (2012) Multiliteracies; FREIRE, Paulo (1996). and Maurice Tardif(2002) educational practice. COELHO (2000) Children's Literature; THIÉL (2013) and DORRICO (2018 and 2020) on Contemporary Brazilian Indigenous Literature. Daniel Munduruku and other indigenous voices, who produce literary works, in addition to related studies. As it is social research, the approach is qualitative. Regarding the objectives, this research will be exploratory-descriptive in nature. The methodology regarding procedures will be bibliographical research and action research. The following techniques will be used to collect data: interviews with teachers from the 3rd, 4th and 5th year classes and a storytelling workshop, which is carried out with the class selected to participate in the research. For the educational product, the Rotation of Learning Stations is proposed with the work “Enchanted Bird” by Eliane Potiguara.
