SUMMARY:

Continuing training for Physical Education teachers plays a crucial role in improving their skills and knowledge throughout their career, directly influencing their teaching. This research aims to analyze the continuing training process for high school Physical Education teachers in the state education network under the jurisdiction of the 11th Regional Education Management in the city of Uruçuí in Piauí. The organization of the theoretical framework is structured into three chapters, where the first covers a brief history of the development of public policies for continuing education in Brazil following the creation of the Law of Guidelines and Bases 9394/96. The second chapter deals with the issue of continuing training and teacher professionalization, while the third corresponds to continuing training from the perspective of physical education teachers: reflection on practice. To achieve the proposed objective, research with a quantitative, descriptive approach was developed. For data collection, a closed questionnaire applied to fifteen physical education teachers was used as a research instrument, in addition to an interview carried out with the teaching coordinator of the 11th Regional Education Management. The results found revealed that teachers are aware of the importance of continuing training programs; however, they are limited to the challenges encountered when participating in such actions, which range from the geographic space where they operate; the form of organization, most of the time online, without the direct participation of teachers and completely outside the context in which they are inserted. However, it is necessary to rethink the elaboration and programming of continuing education policies, so that conditions are created for teachers to participate and have more autonomy in the construction of knowledge, as they are thinking beings, capable of reflecting, constructing and proposing new conceptions and practices of their own continuing education that enrich their thinking and pedagogical practice. Based on the results of this, a continuing training program was developed to meet local demand, taking into account the dictates of the BNCC.
